Nose

The nose is in a central position of the face. Its importance in the facial harmony is fundamental. Moreover, its importance as a functional organ is also fundamental for breathing and sense of smell. The Plastic surgeon that operates noses should master the “techniques” to improve the aesthetic aspect of nasal pyramid, as well, in the same surgical act, solve the functional problems, the most frequent of those being nasal obstruction (inability the breath properly through the nose).

This is a high precision surgical act that demands a deep anatomic knowledge. Usually, in the rhinoplasty (surgery of the nasal pyramid), or rhinoseptoplasty (nasal pyramid and septum), that I operate in 90% of the cases, I use sedation and local anesthesia ou general anesthesia, therefore, the patient leaves the clinic in the same day. The return to his/her social and professional life usually takes 7 to 10 days. At the post-operative, a lymphatic drainage for 1 to 2 weeks is useful for recovering from the surgical act.
